The Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I is a 3 megapixel high resolution fixed 2.8mm SUPER WIDE ANGLE dome IP camera with a compression of H.264 and MJPEG. The camera also has an ingress protection of IP66 vandal proof housing, this making it ideal for outdoor use as it is able to withstand harsh outdoor environments. I used this to replace a POS Foscam unit that I had watching my front porch. The Foscam unit didn't even make it 6 months before failing and I hope this one lasts longer. It sure seems to be built well and the image is exceptionally clear. I only wish it had pan and tilt like the Foscam unit did.I like that this comes POE ready. It doesn't come with a power adapter but I didn't need one. I plugged this in and within about 10 minutes it was up and running. It works great and I'll likely be buying a PTZ version to cover the other sides of my house. Burglars BEWARE!Don't be afraid to get it. It is well worth the money. I'm done with the gimmicky Foscam units (I own about a dozen).

This camera is by far one of the best dome cameras on the market, especially in this price range. The 3 MP lense will give you a crystal clear high definition image in 2048 x 1536 resolution. It is meant to be mounted on a ceiling with the 2-axis mount lense but there are brackets you can purchase for wall mounting (dome will still be mounted horizontally). Hikvision is a company that is proving their products are high quality and reliable and are going to get really big in the CCTV market in the US. Lately this camera and the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I Outdoor HD 3MP IP Bullet Security Camera 4mm have been very popular because of their picture quality and reliability. I purchased this dome camera to replace 2 other cameras that were not Hikvision and have not looked back. The dome has not lost connection once and is very reliable.Another great feature is that this camera is POE (Power Over Ethernet). This means you don't have to plug the camera into a power source, you simply need a POE Injector which will power the camera via the ethernet cable.Good:- Reliability- Picture quality- 2.8mm lense gives a wide Field Of View (FOV)Bad:- Dome cameras are not as versatile as far as mounting as the Hikvision 3MP Bullet but that goes for all dome cameras.In conclusion, I recommend this camera to anyone looking for a reliable dome camera with great image quality. Between this camera and the 3MP bullet I can say that Hikvision has become my new favorite IP / security camera manufacturer.

The price is good considering it is 1080P, but the positives stop there.The software application is insufficient. Connecting directly to the camera is better. The poor English doesn't help, but the lack of explanations is a hindrance. All of this is workable. However, getting it to write to storage is an exercise in futility. It wants the entire volume of my Synology Diskstation to write to it! No. Instead I set up another drive from my system and shared it out via NFS (no CIFS). The camera can see the drive, but requires formatting the drive itself. This does not work.Do realize, although this is a dome camera, it does not pan/tilt/zoom. Also, the only video format is H.264.
