When THQ went belly up at the end of 2012, the future of their gaming titles were in question. The two bigger ones were WWE and UFC. Once EA Sports grabbed up UFC, it was left in the air who would get WWE. After some negotiating, 2K Sports took WWE under their wing with promise to keep the same development team on board. Thus, WWE 2K14 was born. Now, the hard part is topping WWE 13's phenomenal storyline of the Attitude Era. Wrestlemania 30 is coming up in April of 2014 so why not do a tribute to such a landmark?WWE 2K14 offers very little to change the game just at first glance. The graphics look pretty identical as do the commentary and WWE 2k14 loading screens. The little changes I noticed were: fixed chokeslam (no longer do people turn inside out when getting a chokeslam, it actually looks natural...when you bust someone open to bleed you can see the blood start to trickle down their face...when you land a big move on an opponent you can see them spread out on the mat almost lifeless....Slobber Knocker mode is back!!....reversals and grapples feel more natural and smoother to operate.The new game mode, 30 Years of Wrestlemania, brings back a lot of warm and fuzzy nostalgic moments for wrestling fans of yesteryear. In chronological order, you will relive at least one, if not more, moments from each and every Wrestlemania until you get to 29. You have historical objectives required to complete the match so that you can be assured everything is how it happened in real life. This mode is insanely fun. Being there when Hogan bodyslammed Andre the Giant, Hogan defeated Yokozuna in record time, Razor Ramon beat HBK in ladder match, Undertakers greatest matches and when HBK retired Ric Flair...it's all there! The roster from this is very impressive. Older, almost forgotten names like Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy, bigger names that haven't been in games like Yokozuna and Razor Ramon all the way to just retro versions of HBK, Undertaker, Triple H and The Rock. Added to this game is also a Rivalry mode to Universe. This will allow you to have programs with superstars just like in real life that play over a set amount of time.This game is such a huge improvement on WWE 13 and breathes new life into the series. Hopefully this will bring jaded wrestling fans back to the genre. I don't watch wrestling in real life, but playing this game reminds me of all the awesome moments that I got to live through as a child watching.

52K lays the Smackdown on the franchise!

Having played "30 Years of Wrestlemania" mode and some matches of regular gameplay, I am EXTREMELY happy with this years game. Not knowing the game was set to a "Normal" difficulty, I found it to be challenging and competitive. Matches feel real and the opponent actually puts up a fight! Graphics are top notch and there's a plethora of unlockables to be had!I'm the kind of person who will wait on DLC so I have the chance to unlock as much as I can without just having it instatnly unlocked. None the less, can't wait to get my hands on it.This game is a MUST OWN for any and all wrestling fan, from nostalgia to now.

5The SmackDown on this game will make your fingers go RAW

I know. Cheesy title but it's true. Second big game franchise to switch to a new developer right behind Batman Arkham Origins. There are lots of bugs/glitches with the new Batman game but it shows that 2K Sports does quality testing. I have yet to run into issues in the game and don't expect to either. Here are my thoughts on the game since I had a couple of RAW vs Smackdown games in the past.There is not really any bad things about this game for me yet. I am still going through the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode. It's actually scary accurate of how they played out the matches to what actually happened in the past.I have very vivid memories of WrestleMania 1-13. The WrestleManias after that I wasn't too familiar with since I lost interest in WWE just as the attitude era hit. Even though I didn't follow wrestling anymore I still loved the games they brought out and stayed familiar with all the wrestlers up to today.When you are actually playing the matches from WrestleMania you have to meet objectives to be able to unlock certain uniform/costumes in the past for wrestlers and unlock wrestlers them self. The cut scenes seem to be very accurate because the commentating just seems to be copy past from the actual event. Then they carry out the animations as they actually happened in in real life.I remember in WM12 when Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart had their 1 hour iron man match and it ended as a draw at first. I remember seeing the Hitman walking back towards the locker rooms. When Gorilla Monsoon ordered the match to continue Bret Hart turned around with the belt on his shoulder saying "What?!, WHAT?!". In the game you see him turn around and you see his lips move but you cannot hear what he says. But if you actually saw the real thing, you know he was saying "What, what" there and made me give the game a lot more respect.I had RvS 2012, 2011 and 2009. Im sure making this jump from the RvS to WWE 2k14 was bigger then going from WWE 13 to 2k14. I noticed the pacing of the matches is dramatically different. 2k14 felt a lot smoother and honestly, it took me awhile to get use to the pace of the matches. In RvS its faster paced and you can end a match in 2 minutes on normal. I didn't like the pace at first because I couldn't steam roll my opponent.Even on normal the game is very challenging. I have to play the game on easy to get more familiar with the controls and moves. The AI in 2k14 is much better then it ever has been with the RvS series. They counter/reverse moves more often, if they have a signature/finisher ready, they will use it on you as soon as they have an opportunity. At first I hated it, but it now makes the game a lot more fun with having that challenge. You actually have to play to win your matches, rather then just roll them over.I bought the season pass and can unlock all the wrestlers/arenas now if I wanted. Since I have been enjoying the game so much I am just unlocking everything as I go instead. I think this game is great and worth the money. The only downside about the whole thing is that they have to use "WWE" for all the commentary/text for the old WrestleMania matches. Growing up with WWF was awesome and to see that classic logo changed to not have to F on it anymore made me a little sad.Either way, this was a great takeover for 2k Sports. I got this game just because of the WrestleMania mode and being able to finally have a official roster with classic wrestlers. Worth the 60 dollars if you ask me.
